The Imperial noble house of Salus was formed in 2360 by Francis I. Shortly thereafter Francis I. was crowned Arch-Duke in the recently formed Empire of Achenar. His son Francis II. was the first Arch-Duke of House Salus to hold a seat in the Imperial Senate.

Within the Empire, House Salus is most renowned for specialising in exploration, and colonising newly found systems for the Empire. Many of the Imperial worlds on the edge of Imperial space were discovered, and first settled by House Salus. For centuries House Salus only laid the ground work for terra-forming and colonisation, but left the administration of these systems in the capable hands of newly formed local Imperial factions. The House itself was fleet based, and preferred a nomadic life-style.

The current reigning matriarch of House Salus changed this. In a departure of tradition, Arch-Duchess Magdalena Sophia von Salus created a local governance of House Salus in Gallemi, called the Salus Imperial Society. Unlike the aristocratic House Salus itself, the Imperial Society is structured as a patronage, lead by the Governor Danial Shields.

The main purpose of the Society is to further the colonisation efforts that the House had started, while also bringing prosperity, and security to its citizens. Nevertheless the noble House itself continues its search for new star systems to colonise for the Empire.

When asked with whom House Salus’ loyalties lie, one receives a short, but decisive answer: with the Empire. House Salus focus was always exploration, and colonisation, and rarely lied with Imperial politics. And the Arch-Duchess agrees with this sentiment: “We expand the Empire not with words, wars, and by conquering; but with hard work, dedication, and settling new systems for future generations.”

House Salus’ reign in Gallemi proved popular, not only among Imperial but also with Independent citizens. While Imperial slavery remains legal in its systems, House Salus has closed many legal loopholes that allowed unjust exploitation, or even allowed citizen’s work value to be used as collateral for debts, and loans.

The Arch-Duchess’ efforts for a fairer, and more just Imperial society has also drawn the attention of Imperial aligned Pilot Federation commanders. CMDR Hekateh, together with CMDR Helene Valoux, run the squadron Salus Invicta, which welcomes every Pilot Federation commander that wishes to support House Salus in its efforts.
